My name is Frank Dalton, and I am a male breast cancer survivor.

I was diagnosed on December 7th, 2016, with stage 2 breast cancer. It was a big shock to say the least.

I noticed a lump under my right nipple while I was away on a fishing trip in early October. After several tests and biopsies, I was officially diagnosed in December 2016. I went through a year of chemotherapy treatments and 35 radiation treatments. Of course, I lost all my hair and taste. The taste would come back a little before my next treatment, but I would lose it again. It’s not something I would want to go through again.

I stayed on Letrozole for 6 years before I was officially released. I have been cancer free for 8 years now and thank God each day for allowing me to continue my journey. Friends, family and a lot of laughter helped me get through it. Fishing is my medicine away from medicine, it’s what I love to do.

Most men don’t know that we can get breast cancer and need to be educated about it. I’ve done several charity events in Virginia and North Carolina spreading the word. Local TV and newspapers have interviewed me also. I talked to the chief of the local police department and got pink badges for the officers to wear during Breast Cancer Awareness Month thanks to a local merchant and decals made to promote awareness. I continue to advocate for breast cancer awareness.
