It does not include tips, airfare or sightseeing expenses. Daily dinners consists of a variety of dishes that include salmon, lingcod, crab and a non-seafood dish such as prime rib or pork roast. The rooms have free secured wireless internet access and laundry facilities.

The lodge is located on the water in Sitka Alaska where you can see bald eagles looking for their next catch and jumping and spawning salmon everyday from your bedroom window. Everyday, while on the water, one will see, Bald Eagles, Puffins (they are cute, but they steal your bait), Seals, Whales, sometimes moose and bear.

The boats hold 5-6 anglers and fish all day. The limit is 1 Halibut, 6 Coho Salmon, 1 King Salmon, 5 rockfish, 1 lingcod per day. 1 yelloweye rockfish is allowed per year. For a three day fishing trip, it is normal to take home ~75# of fish fillets (already filleted and flash frozen) per person. The boat comes with all of the bait, hooks, line etc. Each boat comes with one skipper and one deckhand.

Non-anglers are welcome to come on this trip as well. The lodge has several vans to take the guests into town to see all of the tourist attractions while the others are fishing. Attractions include Fortress of the Bear (where orphaned bears are taken as cubs), Raptor center (Bird of prey are rehabilitated when injured, mostly bald eagles), Totem Pole Center, Salmon Hatchery, many natural streams with so many spawning salmon that you can “walk across the river” if they were stones, and lots more. Non-anglers have a special price of $165/day that includes lodging, meals and local transportation to tourist attractions.

Right now is an excellent time to buy the airfare. Alaska air is offering special discounts to Sitka. A trip from San Diego to Sitka is $659, normally it is $950. This discount is available until October 17, 2011. Go to Alaska air website for more details. The fish boxes will cost $20 each to check in as baggage on the way home. If you have any extra room in a box, you can always buy some crab to fill in the space!

Cost for anglers: $2561, however a discount will reflected if 12 or more people sign up.
Cost for non anglers: $585

If interested you can contact the lodge directly at 1-800-770-2628 or at info@wildstrawberrylodge.com or you can contact me at 619-322-8769. If you call the lodge, ask for the Pink Fishing trip. A deposit is required and a payment plan is available if requested. I like paying a little at a time every month so it does not seem to be so expensive at the time of the trip.

Hope to see you there. It will be a trip of a life-time.
